Adult Counselling
My counselling career began in the UK, in 2005, working in schools with children and families. In 2011, Australia became my home, and since then I have worked with families and adults; primarily with those who have been impacted by trauma.
My degree was integretive, training in both humanistic and psychodynamic frameworks. I have also trained and work with a trauma informed and strengths based approach.
For the past three years I have worked in private practice with adults, including private contract work for one of Australia’s leading EAP services.

Psychodynamic Counselling explores the unconscious processes (past trauma or unresolved childhood events) that are manifested in a person’s present behavior. By linking past to present this modality allow the client to make connections and gain understanding about their defense mechanisms and patterns of behaviour.
Person Centered Counselling focuses on the present moment rather than the past. This is a gentle, non-judgmental counselling technique that encourages the client to reconnect with their core values, enabling clients to find their own way forward.
Trauma Informed Counselling is a framework that focuses on client safety. This approach acknowledges the impact of trauma in order to rebuild trust, empower the client, improve self-esteem, and facilitate change.
Strengths Based Counselling is an approach designed to empower the client and focus on their strengths. This framework helps build independance, and resilience, while acknowledging the client as the storyteller. This approach is often interwoven with the trauma informed framework.
